Polishing silver

Before events I always polish my items in a very old fashioned way. It is how I was taught to polish silver and gold by my first ever employer. Back then he was already old in my teenager perception and he was taught to do it this way by his father.

What we used back in the day and what I still use today is ground chalk, the stuff you use on blackboards and methylated spirit, that stuff you should not drink because it is very unhealthy. You make a diluted paste with this, brush it onto the item you want to clean and then brush it of with a very soft brush like a child's toothbrush.
